My extensive travel started in January at our yearly RoundUP workshop in Vancouver and ended in an Ontario geophysics laboratory at Western University in December. Several trips were made throughout the year to these countries; the USA, Morocco, Australia, India, South Africa, and the UAE. Conferences included the PDAC, SAGEEP, CSEG, ASEG, AEG, SEG and SAGA.
Personally, I found the most unique conference to be SAGA-AEM 2013 for it was held at the world renowned Kruger National Park and Game Reserve in South Africa. Being able to sleep under a thatched roof at night, gaze at giraffes over breakfast, speak to world’s top geophysicists during the day, and enjoy South Africa’s food and legendary hospitality at night made for quite the memorable experience.
The trip to AEG in exotic New Delhi also stood out as a memorable experience for travelling there took over 20 hours, while traveling home exposed me to 10 different time zones. Although tiring at the times, it now makes for quite the travel story.
Regardless, throughout, it was indeed a pleasure to present our varied mineral and ground water case-studies to the many geoscientists, explorers, miners and students around the world that were there to listen and learn from Geotech’s vast industry experience.
