Canadian International School inaugurated in Accra

The Canadian International School (CIS), established in Accra in April 2014, with support from the Canadian High Commission in Accra, and the Breton University (Canada), has been inaugurated.

The programme was held on the theme: ‘’The Canadian Curriculum: Prospects and Challenges’’. At the ceremony, Mr Douglas Pitcher, Managing Partner, Director and Vice President of Geotech Airborne Limited, said the school was established for both Ghanaian and Canadian children to come together to learn about the culture of both countries.

He added that the Nova Scotia Scholarship curriculum would help the children to learn different languages, mainly English and French. He also said, “It is very important that the Ghanaian system and the Nova Scotia curriculum be integrated. It is also important that you maintain the Ghanaian standard and if possible, improve on that standard’’. Emphasising the need for the African child to cultivate the habit of reading, Mr Pitcher said  more library facilities should be built to boost and enhance the development of the African child’s brain.
